Welcome to My Bio Page

My name is Ruth Hutton. I am an instructor in the Medical Assisting Program and Massage Therapy Program at Miller-Motte Technical College, and a registered nurse. I am a Certified Holistic Nurse through the American Holistic Nurses Association and a Holistic Stress Management Instructor.

I received my B.A. in Comparative Religion from Randolph-Macon Woman's College and my Associates in Nursing from Northern Virginia Community College. I am now pursuing my Master of Arts in Education Adult Education and Distance Learning from the University of Phoenix Online. I hope to finish by June of 2005. I enjoy teaching adults and hope to one day have my own business designing online CEU courses for nursing and develop stress management instruction for corporations and their employees.

Before teaching for technical colleges I ran a cardiology prevention program which required me to lecture widely to large groups of physicians and nurses, as well as to the public. Through those experiences I discovered that I love to teach. Before working for Miller-Motte Technical College I taught in a Practical Nursing Program in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I currently live in Amherst, Virginia, which is twenty minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, with my dog, Suki, an Australian Cattledog. I love hiking, biking, gardening, cooking, kayaking, playing Native American Courting flutes, visiting the winery's in Virginia, and older movies such as Dr. Zhivago and Chariots of Fire. Below are audio files of both theme songs from these movies.
